Caligari Entertainment GmbH was founded in Cologne in 1999 as a subsidiary of Caligari Film- und Fernsehproduktions GmbH by Gabriele M. Walther. Since then, the company has established itself as one of the leading independent production companies in the field of documentaries and factual entertainment.

Under the content and organizational direction of Friedrich Steinhardt and Stefanie Schollmeier, more than 100 high-quality documentary films and series were produced – many of them award-winning, including

In addition, Caligari Entertainment GmbH produces primetime documentaries for the national and international market – including for ARD-Wissen, ARTE Abenteuer Menschheit and the ZDF umbrella brand Terra X.

In January 2025, the company relocated its headquarters from Cologne to Munich (Schwanthaler Straße 76) and welcomed Roman Linke from B.O.A. Videofilmkunst as a new co-partner and managing director.

With this strategic realignment, Caligari Entertainment is continuing on its successful path – as a reliable and experienced partner for high-quality, journalistically sound and innovative documentary formats.
