Caligari Entertainment GmbH was founded in Cologne in 1999 as a subsidiary of Caligari Film- und Fernsehproduktions GmbH founded by Gabriele M. Walther. Since then, the company has established itself as one of the leading independent production companies in the field of documentaries and factual entertainment.

Since its foundation, the company has produced more than 100 high-quality documentaries and series – many of them award-winning; including

In addition, Caligari Entertainment GmbH produces primetime documentaries for the national and international market – including for ARD-Wissen, ARTE Abenteuer Menschheit and the ZDF umbrella brand Terra X.

In January 2025, the company relocated its headquarters from Cologne to Munich (Schwanthaler Straße 76) and welcomed Roman Linke from B.O.A. Videofilmkunst as a new co-partner and managing director.
